This is a beautiful mountain campground and an absolute favorite. It's wooded, with beautiful views and so quiet. RV sites are full hookup, and there are also primitive tent sites. Also, cabins for rent. Very nice laundry and showers. The couple who runs it are so nice and helpful. There are some groceries and other items available for purchase in the office. Roads are narrow bot navigable. Dog park, playground.
I am a returning guest of the campground. Marla is very welcoming and accommodating. Marla and Kenny are working very hard to rebuild from Helene and are doing a great job. They have rebuilt the pavilion that was lost and have built a very pretty stairway from the laundry room to the lower sites. My little cabin was cozy, clean and perfect for this weekend. It had everything I needed in the kitchen to include a full size refrigerator and gas stove. Comfortable bed. And tons of rhododendrons as my view. Very relaxing. Linville Falls is such a great area to visit and the community is working hard to rebuild and recover. I will definitely return and stay at this campground when I can. Thank you, Marla and Kenny!
This place is beautiful and Ken and Marla are fantastic hosts. I wish I had visited later in the spring. The rhododendrons must be amazing. They are EVERYWHERE! They were hit hard by Helene, but the work they have done in less than 6 months is miraculous. They have a brand new pavilion and walkway to the tenting area. The loss of trees is sad, but it has opened the views up, which are stunning and there is still plenty of shade. Roads to get there are repaired and open. I highly recommend a visit to the area.
This is my second time within a month of returning to this hidden gem. I LOVE their primitive camping spots down below nestled in the trees. It’s so peaceful and clean. Their bathrooms are amazing, a power shower! The owners are wonderful, so kind with smile on their faces. I like to disconnect from the real world. While you can camp up above and have power, I like to turn it off and enjoy the serenity it provides. My daughter and I are already homesick and look to return for more than a couple of nights next time around. They have gained us as extended family!
Exactly what we were expecting based on other reviews (this is a good thing)! We camped at tent site 44 which was big enough for our two cars, 6 person tent, and 4 person tent with more room to spare. The campsite and grounds were kept very clean (for being outdoors), and I was so happy to have a VERY clean bath house to use. The drive through the tent sites was a little rough if you don't have all wheel drive though. Also, site 44 being close to the bath house was both good and bad. The lights on the outside did light up the tent a good bit but it was nice to just take a short walk up the hill to the nice bath house. We will return in the future!
The person who checked us in and out was so friendly! She met us on the porch asked us questions, gave us an actual map (useful when gps on your cell doesn’t work) to nearby restaurants. The campground itself was clean, and decorated for fall season, there was a playground, and separate enclosed dog area for off the leash running. We stayed in the bear cabin it was clean, had window units, a fridge, basic necessities. The bed was kinda stiff but we are used to tent camping anyway so it was doable. Cute little porch and sitting area. It was definitely worth the money and we would stay again if heading that way.
Camped in a tent in an electric covered space for 2 nights as all the tent camping spots were booked. Really quite a beautiful place. The spots were a bit close together but lots of trees and privacy fences to make it feel private. It's definitely not dispersed camping. Very clean and accessible bathroom / shower facilities / laundry room. Marla was extremely helpful at directions and local suggestions. Would recommend and stay again.
We’ve camped here twice and we love it! Bathrooms are sparkling clean. They have a sink for dishes, and laundry machines. Playground for kids. Stunning area. 20 minutes from a sunset and a sunrise overlook which are both easy and short hikes. Super nice people and great prices. The camp store has a little of everything you might need while camping. It’s great.
