I stayed for 3 nights and 4 days in a Lodge room. I planned my trip with great excitement. I wanted to be away from the hustle and bustle of the city and relax. Westgate River Ranch seemed like the perfect getaway... but upon arrival, my first experience was disastrous. During check-in, a lobby employee was very rude and sent me outside because my dog was uncomfortable (the wait was British). I don't remember her name, but she was American, medium height, chubby, and had very pale skin. They should give her better training to be more professional in that position. They should be more selective; that position is practically the face of the resort. The resort lacks nighttime activities; you have to pay for 98% of the activities, and they are expensive. For the price of the stay, it was good that at least breakfast would be included. The restaurant has a very short menu (not very varied), but what I ordered was good, and the staff is very friendly and welcoming. I don't think I'll return.
Juan at the River Ranch Marina was super friendly and provided great service. Rubi at the front seat also provided excellent service. Unfortunately the GLAMPING Tent was quite dingy and old. I did notice that they had newer tents, but they put us in one of the oldest ones. Our grill had no gas and they never came to change it after requesting several times. They seem extremely short staffed during the week and mostly every thing is either closed, short staffed or unavailable. It’s understandable because there weren’t many guest here, but all the guest that were here were short changed and disappointed due to the lack of amenities. The environment and ambiance were exceptional though. We really enjoyed the airboat ride and movie nights at the marina. Everyone we met were super friendly and embraced that southern hospitality Feel. We will definitely come back on a weekend next time when all the amenities are open. Happy Westgate Owners and Loyalty Members.
Great resort offering a wonderfully different experience. We took our grandkids(ages 4 and 6) and we kept busy every day. The rodeo was great and the petting zoo and pony rides were a big success! The cabin was perfect for the 6 of us and very clean. Love having a washer and dryer in the units. Would have given five stars but they would not refund us our horseback riding purchase. I thought small children could ride with adults but they do not allow small kids to ride. They wouldn’t refund me so I lost that money. We did do the airboat ride and it was lots of fun. Our guide was great and very informative. The kids loved getting to see the buffalo up close. Not an every year trip but definitely a great place for kids! The water park was not finished yet so we did not get to experience that, but it looks like it will be lots of fun.
Room: We stayed in a room by the pool. It was clean and fine other than it had not a single overhead light. It was so dark. Also only one mirror (in the bathroom) for 4 of us to get ready. Dining: Smokehouse was great. Chophouse had the worst service imaginable. We weren't seated until 30 min after our reservation and took forever to just get our drink order. Activities: All of the animals in stalls at the petting zoo seemed sad and depressed. A friend who was on the trip with me and also owns her own horse mentioned how they were not being cared for properly. Please treat these animals better. The Rodeo was pretty boring and I'd recommend skipping it entirely. Overall: It was fine. Very expensive. Friendly staff. Golf carting around with friends was the highlight of the weekend.
My family and I had a great time at Westgate River Ranch. As usual, the staff was amazing. Dorie at the marina was helpful and patient. Janelle in the activity center was sweet. Jim went out of his way to give our family a special treat while we were at the mini golf. Andrew’s talent in the guitar made the hat ride that much more amazing.
First time visitors that will never come back! Stayed in RV spot #2, great site, horrible grounds. Security is severely lacking, kids locking the bathhouses/making such a mess/ ruckus. Nothing was open Thursday night (6-7pm) for dinner expect the steakhouse which had only 4 tables with guest...no menus, had to wait 36mins to be seated. Had to send back both of our ribeye that were so tough we couldn't even cut it with a knife, only to get another order which was the same...how does a steakhouse mess up medium rare ribeye?!?! After the second order we sub it for a burger...even the burger was tough. Our daughters burnt ends were all fat, absolutely no meat, pure fat! Table service was mediocre at best...the kicker was the restaurant didnt even comp us for the 2 (total of 4) steaks we couldnt even eat/sent back... our bill was over $200 for food that was less than okay. The swamp ride was fun, shout out to Mr. Johny, he was so fun! But the rodeo was a huge let down...was expecting way more. This is definitely a place where city folks go to get a dose of country...it's hyped up way more than it deserves! We left a day earlier then anticipated and will never be back!
5 Stars – Exceptional Service from Sam! We had such a great experience at the restaurant, thanks to Sam! From the moment we sat down, Sam was friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They anticipated our needs, made excellent recommendations, and ensured everything was perfect throughout the meal. It’s rare to find someone who makes dining out feel so easy and enjoyable. Sam truly went above and beyond—thank you for the amazing service!
The experience as a whole was uniquely fun. The kids loved the adventure park, the bulls behind the RV, the archery, the rodeo, the swamp buggy, coffee and ice cream. Our drawback was the nickel and diming for everything. Cowboy adventure park $20 each child and parents $10 to supervise. At least it was an all day pass. Extra fee for the gems inside the adventure park. We get the tours are extra, but sad we had to pay a fee for a playground. Extra fee for mini golf and other activities. The pool was only for the hotel part. There’s a water park area being built expected to open by end of summer they say. I suspect that will be an additional fee too. So unless you fork out another couple hundred dollars you basically have no other amenities other than your site that’s not a shaded area unless you were lucky enough to get one with an oak tree. Other resorts and hotels have a resort fee that allows you access to the resort part. The RV sites didn’t have waste so we had to pack up and drive down to dump every few days. We didn’t use the bath house since our RV has a nice shower, but my husband checked them out and said they were decent. We will give it another go when the water park comes and try a nicer site in the river ranch RV resort side, but have no strong desire to come back right away.
