Why people come

Discover adventure in Ohio Amish Country! Enjoy shopping handcrafted gifts, savor a hearty Amish meal, and retreat to a cozy cabin. Enjoy the charm and tradition of Holmes County.

Ohio Amish Country invites you to slow down and savor the beauty and vitality of the spring season.  Journey down scenic backroads dotted with artisan workshops, farm stands, and u-pick flower fields, then explore charming villages filled with locally owned shops.  Discover hand-crafted furniture, leather goods, pottery, quilts, and beautiful decor shaped by generations of skilled craftsmanship. Antique malls and specialty boutiques offer one-of-a-kind treasures you won’t find anywhere else.

Situated in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, Ohio Amish Country provides a tapestry of colorful fields set against a backdrop of stunning hillsides.  Outdoor enthusiasts will delight in the natural beauty of the rolling landscape.  Golfers can challenge their skills at the Black Diamond Golf Course or Fire Ridge Golf Course, both offering challenging yet rewarding courses.

Whether hitting the fairway or treasure hunting the local shops, take time to enjoy a taste of tradition with an Amish inspired meal.  Enjoy locally made cheeses, fresh baked bread, fry pies, or sweet treats still warm from the oven. Mrs. Yoder’s Kitchen, The Berlin Farmstead Restaurant and Der Dutchman Restaurant provide an endless buffet of traditional Amish fare while other eateries like Blue Sky Café, Rebecca’s Bistro, and the Olde World Bistro and Bakery provide unique menu options rooted in locally sourced ingredients.

Leave room for handmade treats at one of the many bakeries throughout the area including Miller’s Bakery near Charm, the Der Dutchman Bakery in Walnut Creek or Hershberger’s Farm and Bakery offering a wide variety of baked goods, bulk foods, cheeses, preserves and local produce along with warm greetings from their barn yard friends inside their expansive petting zoo.  No visit to Hershberger’s Farm and Bakery is complete until you have enjoyed a horse drawn Amish Buggy ride throughout the grounds and feed the goats perched upon the barn’s rooftop!

Relax and unwind after a full day of adventure at one of the charming bed and breakfast inns, cozy cottages, full amenity hotels or for the adventurous, try a tree house cabin nestled within the treetops. A spring visit to Ohio Amish Country isn’t hurried; it’s an experience rooted in heritage, hospitality, and simple pleasures.
