We recently stayed at Sunset Villa 5015 and unfortunately, the experience didn’t quite live up to expectations. While the location of the resort is fantastic — right in the middle of the Keys, making day trips to both Key West and Key Largo easy — and the pools were a definite highlight, the condition and cleanliness of our villa left a lot to be desired. Upon arrival, both bathrooms showed signs of prior use — including hairs on the soap, in the shower, and around the toilet. It gave the impression that the villa had not been thoroughly cleaned before we checked in. Additionally, the check-in process itself was a bit confusing, as we were told we weren’t expected until the following day, despite having booked 3/31 to 4/6. While this was resolved, it felt like we were placed in a villa that may not have been fully prepared for guests. The most frustrating issue was the bed in the master bedroom. It was very squeaky and uncomfortable, and appeared to have been repaired multiple times in the past. It really impacted the comfort of our stay, and left us wondering why such an important issue hadn’t been fully resolved. Throughout the villa, there were also several minor maintenance issues — loose door handles, towel holders falling off, and other small things that added up to a general sense of poor upkeep. It didn’t feel like the level of attention you’d expect from a resort in this price range. Service-wise, we didn’t have any negative experiences, but most interactions felt a bit impersonal or rushed. That said, we did appreciate the friendly ladies at the coffee counter, the attentive poolside staff, and how quickly housekeeping responded with towels when requested. Overall, there are definitely some bright spots here — the pools, the location, and a few standout staff members — but our villa didn’t meet the standards we were hoping for, and we left feeling somewhat disappointed.
White Lotus vibes all the way - this resort is amazing. It’s upscale yet family friendly, the views are breathtaking and as someone who frequents the keys, this is my favorite spot. There is a lagoon you can snorkel in and see beautiful wildlife, there are dolphins on premises too that you can swim with, the pool is spectacular- there are multiple. The main pool is the best but the recreational center does not disappoint! With a splash pad, mini golf, bikes, golf carts and more - you will have plenty to do!
This place is amazing! Everyone on staff is super friendly & helpful. They were at capacity (peak season) when we were there & the staff was still very accommodating. It’s a great place for families as there are many activities for children all day long. We were able to enjoy the adult only pool as well as the family pool & lagoon. The dolphin experience is on site & very accessible. So fun to see the dolphin interacting with the guests & trainers! I highly recommend Hawk Cay!
Experience was great. The resort is very peaceful. We stayed in a villa which was perfect for two young families. Plenty of activities to do on property and the shuttle to get around was great. After checking in, we received a text and were able to use that text chain for all requests/questions throughout our stay. Some things on property were dated (the kids pirate ship play ground and villa couches). Lobby breakfast felt microwaved, but poolside food and drinks were good.
This was my second visit, and my first was 10+ years ago. My impression this time is the same as my first: it's nice, but not as nice as the price might suggest. It's a gorgeous spot, no doubt. The grounds are well kept and the staff are nice. The newly opened Salt+Ash is an amazing restaurant that out classes the resort itself. It would be worth a day pass (if they offer it) just to experience that food and service. But even 10 years ago the resort itself seemed a little disorganized and not quite up to the 5-star standard. Construction quality is evidently sub-par in some areas, though the rooms are comfortable and well equipped. The bathroom sliding door - always a terrible design choice - was very difficult to open or close because it has not been maintained well enough to prevent that. Several of my associates said the same was true in their rooms. Also, it was difficult to get lunch if you didn't have at least 30 minutes to wait for the overpriced but average food offered. Maybe the presence of such an amazing restaurant on the property will make the whole place raise their standards. Still, with the location and positives, I can only take away one star.
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hawks Cay Resort, and it was truly an unforgettable experience. From the stunning waterfront views to the relaxing atmosphere, everything about the resort was top-notch. One of the highlights of my stay was the amazing service at the Tiki Bar. Jacob and Umut, the talented bartenders, really made the experience special. They were both friendly, attentive, and full of energy, ensuring that every drink was perfectly made and that every guest felt welcome. Whether it was a refreshing cocktail or a chilled beer, they had a knack for making it just right. Their warmth and professionalism definitely elevated my time at the resort. The resort itself is a beautiful blend of relaxation and adventure. The pools are gorgeous, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and there’s so much to do, whether you want to enjoy a water sport or simply unwind by the beach. I can't recommend Hawks Cay Resort enough, especially if you're looking for a laid-back, yet luxurious vacation experience. And, of course, if you find yourself at the Tiki Bar, be sure to say hi to Jacob and Umut — they’ll make sure your time there is as enjoyable as possible!
I recently had the pleasure of staying at Hawks Cat Resort, and I cannot recommend it enough! From the moment I arrived, I was blown away by the welcoming atmosphere and stunning surroundings. The resort offers a perfect blend of relaxation and adventure, making it an ideal getaway for anyone looking to unwind in style. A special shout-out to Jacob, the bartender! He made our experience unforgettable. Not only does he craft some of the best drinks I’ve ever had, but he’s also incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and always up for a great conversation. Jacob’s attention to detail and his ability to make everyone feel like family really elevated the entire experience. If you’re ever at the resort, be sure to visit him at the bar – you won’t regret it! I’ll definitely be coming back for another amazing stay. Hawks Cat Resort truly delivers on every level!
We went there for a short getaway. The hotel itself was beautiful, the views are amazing. Our room seemed to be right where the workers came in the morning so it was really loud early in the morning. The food was amazing at Salt and Ash as was the service. Angler and Ale were also absolutely amazing. We had massages at the spa they were good but nobody told us gratuity was included which it was not with 500$. The drinks are extremely pricey and they don’t let you bring your own by the pool so if you want a drink at the pool then you are forced to pay 40$. They also advertise multiple pools and hot tubs there are 2 pools one just adult which I thought was cool. 3 hot tubs one was gross. One was broken and one gave my husband a chemical burn. I contacted the hotel with pictures and so far they have not done anything. We will not be back. How you guys have handled this is completely poor
